Egypt Daily News – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced early Friday that the killing of Hamas leader Yehya Sinwar represents the “beginning of the end” of the war between the Israeli army and the Palestinian movement in the Gaza Strip that has been ongoing for a year, according to AFP.

Netanyahu said in a video message in English, “Yahya Sinwar is dead, he was killed in Rafah” by the Israeli army, affirming that “this does not mean the end of the war in Gaza, but the beginning of the end.”

Earlier, a U.S. official said that President Joe Biden spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the confirmation of the killing of Hamas leader Yehya Sinwar yesterday, Thursday.

Netanyahu’s office stated in a statement that he and Biden agreed that Sinwar’s departure created an opportunity to pressure for the release of hostages in Gaza, and that they would work together to achieve this goal, according to Reuters.

In a related context, Channel 12 reported that Israel sent messages to intermediaries following the assassination of Hamas leader Sinwar.
