Egypt Daily News – A UAE court has decided to extend the detention of three individuals associated with Zamalek Club—Abdel Wahid El Sayed, the club’s football director, along with players Nabil Emad “Donga” and Mostafa Shalaby—pending a verdict on October 29.

This decision comes in light of allegations of assault against a security personnel during the recent semi-final of the local Super Cup match against the Pyramids in Abu Dhabi.

In response to the situation, the Zamalek Club Board of Directors, led by Hussein Labib, has issued an official statement reaffirming their respect for the UAE, its leadership, and its judicial system.

They expressed their utmost appreciation for the hospitality and support received from UAE authorities since the delegation’s arrival, noting that they felt treated with respect and neutrality throughout their stay.

The statement included an apology for any “unintentional mistakes” made by team members and emphasized the club’s commitment to participating in the final match of the Egyptian Super Cup, in gratitude for the efforts made by the UAE in hosting the event.

The board also highlighted the high standards of professionalism upheld by the UAE in organizing past and current tournaments.

Moreover, the Zamalek Club Board distinctly denied any inaccurate statements attributed to them that have circulated in the media or social media, asserting that those claims do not represent the club’s perspective and are merely reflective of editorial views.

They affirmed their intention to implement strict legal and disciplinary actions against those involved in the crisis.
