Egypt Daily News – Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, announced the launch of the first ship within the new “RORO” line linking the port of Damietta and the Italian port of Trieste.

He said during a press conference this evening that this high-speed line, which takes two and a half days, will contribute to transporting goods and agricultural exports of vegetables, fruits and foodstuffs in record time to all parts of Europe.

He explained that this line was long awaited by Egyptian exporters. In order to enhance Egyptian exports, he continued: “Thank God, after two years of negotiation and hard work between the two governments, we celebrate today the launch of the first Egyptian ship transporting goods to Europe, which will shorten the time to less than half compared to normal lines.”

He stressed that this achievement will provide a greater opportunity to increase Egyptian exports, especially fresh agricultural and food products, expressing his pride in raising the Egyptian flag on the “Wadi Al-Arish” ship, which is added to the Egyptian transport fleet.

He added that transforming Egypt into a regional and global center for trade requires a strong infrastructure and a large transport fleet, saying: “If we talk about maximizing exports, and that Egypt becomes a regional and global center for intra-trade; the issue is not talk, the issue is infrastructure, and we will have a fleet that has the ability to reach anywhere in the world.”

He explained that the tonnage of the “Wadi Al-Arish” ship exceeds 82 thousand tons, stressing that it can transport Egyptian exports, in addition to importing grains such as corn and wheat to Egypt as quickly as possible.
