Terrorist groups battle in north Syria

Egypt Daily News – The Syrian army announced that armed terrorist organizations have launched a major attack since yesterday, Wednesday, on safe villages and towns in the southern countryside of Aleppo and Idlib.

The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces said in a statement: “The armed terrorist organizations affiliated with the so-called “Al-Nusra Terrorist Front” and located in the Aleppo and Idlib countryside launched a major attack on a wide front on the morning of Wednesday 11/27/2024 with large numbers of terrorists and using medium and heavy weapons. Targeting safe villages and towns and our military points in those areas.

The statement added, “Our armed forces have responded to the terrorist attack, which is still continuing, and the attacking terrorist organizations have suffered heavy losses in equipment and lives.”

The statement concluded: “Our forces are confronting these terrorist organizations with various means of fire and in cooperation with friendly forces.”

For its part, several sources spoke about the details of the Syrian army’s clashes with “Al-Nusra Front” terrorists in the western countryside of Aleppo yesterday, Wednesday.

Throughout the day yesterday, Wednesday, the Syrian army engaged in violent clashes with terrorists of the Al-Nusra Front and its allies northwest of Aleppo Governorate, and was able to inflict heavy human and military losses on the terrorists.

Field sources in the western countryside of Aleppo confirmed to that the Syrian army units, in conjunction with their response to the terrorist attack since dawn yesterday, targeted their rear supply lines with heavy artillery and guided missile weapons, and were able to destroy their fortifications and positions with their vehicles, including the terrorists, along the battle fronts.

The sources said that the Syrian army’s missiles and heavy artillery destroyed the rear lines of Al-Nusra terrorists in the vicinity of the towns of Taqad, Al-Abzimo, Kafr Amma, Kafr Ta’al and Tadil, west of Aleppo, as well as in the vicinity of the cities of Al-Atareb and Darat Azza, especially in the Regiment (111) axis east of the latter, where a number of civilians fell. A large number of terrorists were killed or wounded.

Simultaneously, the Syrian Army Air Force and the Russian warplanes launched intense raids targeting the locations and concentration points of terrorists on the attack axes and in the vicinity of Atarib and near the town of Al-Wasta, west of Aleppo, and destroyed their targets at Darat Izza and west of Qubatan Al-Jabal, at a time when rocket launchers paralyzed their movement in the front lines on the length of the fighting axis.

The sources indicated that “terrorist organizations fired a barrage of missiles towards the towns of Nubl and Al-Zahraa, north of Aleppo,” where medical sources reported that civilians in the two towns were wounded and were taken to medical points to receive treatment.

Local sources in the western countryside of Aleppo explained that “the residents took revenge on Al-Nusra and the rest of the terrorist organizations allied with it, forcing them to move from their villages and towns to safer areas in the northern countryside of Idlib after the battles intensified in their areas of residence following the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda carrying out a ground military operation.” It included all the fighting fronts west of Aleppo.”

The sources pointed out that Al-Nusra forced the people of some villages and towns to abandon them the day before yesterday after bringing reinforcements to them to launch the military operation, as it forced all residents of the city of Atareb to move west before the start of the battle.

It noted that the terrorist organization “turned all the villages and towns of the contact lines into military barracks and closed the Al-Ghazawiya crossing, which connects Idlib to the southwestern Afrin countryside. They also diverted the movement of passengers through it to the Deir Ballut crossing.

Meanwhile, Syrian army artillery targeted gatherings of “Al-Nusra” terrorists near the towns of Afes, Sarmin, San, Al-Nayrab and Ma’rablit in the eastern Idlib countryside, and in the vicinity of the towns of Al-Bara, Fleifel, Al-Fatira and Deir Sunbul in Jabal Al-Zawiya in the southern Idlib countryside and near the towns of Al-Ankawi, Al-Qarqour, Mishik and Khirbet Al-Naqus in the Al-Ghab Plain, west of Hama. There were confirmed casualties among the terrorists.

In this context, the army yesterday targeted, with its drones and warplanes, and its heavy artillery, the positions of Al-Nusra Front and its armed militia allies in the Hama and Idlib countryside.

A field source stated that the army targeted, with combat drones, terrorist positions in Afes in the Idlib countryside, and with heavy artillery, the movements of terrorists and their focal points in Al-Ziyara and Al-Mishik in the northwestern Al-Ghab Plain, and in Al-Bara, Kansafra, Dere Sunbol, Al-Fatira, and Ma’rablit in Jabal Al-Zawiya in the southern Idlib countryside.

A field source explained that all fronts in the Idlib and Aleppo countryside were ignited yesterday by strikes by the Syrian army and auxiliary forces, stressing that the time for reducing the escalation “has ended” and the battles have returned to the Aleppo and Idlib fronts, and that the terrorists are suffering heavy losses in personnel and equipment, despite their claim to control military points.
