America strikes Syrian army

Egypt Daily News – A US official said on Tuesday that the US military carried out at least one strike in self-defense in Deir ez-Zor Governorate in Syria overnight, adding that the strike had no connection to the current advance of the “opposition” – referring to armed groups – in the country.

The official, who requested to remain anonymous, did not disclose the target of the strike, according to Reuters.

A small number of American forces are stationed at a base in one of the gas fields in Deir ez-Zor and occasionally launch attacks in the area, including attacks on Iranian-backed forces.

There are also ISIS militants in the region, whom US forces have been fighting since 2014.

While these factions spoke of their control over large areas of Idlib, Hama, and Aleppo, the Syrian army, which is supported militarily by Russia, responded with strong strikes, which it said led to the elimination of large numbers of elements it described as terrorist.
