Egypt Daily News – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty announced on Sunday that the proposed “Egyptian-Arab plan” for the Gaza Strip has been completed and is now ready, but no one has reviewed it yet.

The minister confirmed that Egypt is awaiting the presentation of the plan to Arab leaders at the extraordinary summit scheduled for next Tuesday in Cairo.

In a joint press conference with European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Šuica, he stated, “The summit must first approve the plan before it is presented to any foreign party,” adding, “No details of the plan can be shared with any party before it is approved by the leaders, presidents, and rulers on March 4.”

In an official statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Egypt looks forward to the European Union’s support for its efforts regarding Gaza.

On Saturday, Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty revealed that Egypt would train Palestinian police forces to “undertake security responsibilities” in Gaza as part of efforts to develop a plan for rebuilding the enclave without displacing its residents.

During a press conference with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on Saturday, Abdel Aty stated that the discussions included “training programs conducted by Egypt in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority to assume security and law enforcement duties in the Gaza Strip.”

Egypt had announced that it was actively working on preparing a plan for the future of Gaza in response to a proposal by the U.S. president to relocate the enclave’s residents to Egypt and Jordan as part of a plan to rebuild the territory.
