Egypt’s weather is set to take a harsher turn on Sunday as the Egyptian Meteorological Authority warned of rising temperatures, dusty winds, and reduced visibility across several regions, urging citizens to take necessary precautions against unstable weather conditions.
Hotter Weather Tightens Grip Across the Country
According to the official forecast issued by the authority, temperatures will continue their gradual rise across most parts of the country, bringing hot to extremely hot daytime conditions, especially in Upper Egypt.
The weather is expected to remain relatively cool during the early morning hours before rapidly heating up through the afternoon. Northern coastal areas will experience milder conditions compared to inland regions, while nighttime weather is forecast to become moderate across most governorates.
Cairo and the Nile Delta are expected to record highs of 33°C and lows of 19°C, while temperatures along the northern coast will reach 28°C during the day. In northern Upper Egypt, temperatures are forecast to climb to 36°C, while southern Upper Egypt could see scorching highs approaching 39°C.
Dust-Carrying Winds Raise Concerns
Meteorologists also warned of active winds sweeping across large parts of the country at speeds ranging between 30 and 38 kilometers per hour. The winds may trigger blowing sand and dust, particularly in parts of northern Upper Egypt, the New Valley governorate, and South Sinai.
The dusty conditions are expected to occur intermittently throughout the day and could impact visibility in exposed and desert areas.
Morning Fog Expected on Key Roads
The authority further cautioned drivers about water mist and early morning fog expected between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. on roads leading to and from northern Egypt, Greater Cairo, Canal cities, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt.
Officials warned that visibility may drop significantly in some areas during the early hours, increasing risks for motorists traveling on highways and agricultural roads.
Possible Light Drizzle in Northern Regions
Satellite monitoring also indicated the formation of low clouds over scattered areas in northern Egypt extending toward Greater Cairo and Canal cities. Some regions may witness light drizzle, though officials stressed it is unlikely to significantly affect daily activities.
The Meteorological Authority called on citizens to follow official updates closely and take all necessary measures to minimize the effects of the expected weather fluctuations, especially amid the combination of rising heat and dust-laden winds.
