The Presidency – Egypt News.
“In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful”
Your Excellency President of Republic of Slovenia President Nataša Pirc Musar,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is my pleasure to welcome President Nataša Pirc Musar and express our appreciation for her first visit to Cairo as President of the Republic of Slovenia. This visit reflects the progress witnessed in relations between our two countries and underscores the shared political will to elevate bilateral relations to broader horizons, in a manner that serves the common interests of the Egyptian and Slovenian peoples.
I would also like to commend President Musar’s highly appreciated positions on the international stage, as well as her policies in support of upholding international law, consolidating peace, alleviating the suffering of civilians, and protecting their lives in countries experiencing protracted crises, including the Gaza Strip. I reaffirm that these positions have always been highly appreciated.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today, I held with Her Excellency constructive and fruitful talks, which reflected a convergence of views on the importance of building on the progress achieved in Egyptian-Slovenian relations over the past years. We agreed to continue strengthening the frameworks for political consultations, developing areas of economic and investment cooperation, and coordinating on regional and international issues, amid a reality marked by numerous interconnected crises.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Egypt views Slovenia as an important partner in Central Europe, with which we share friendship, historical relations, and a will to build on the existing opportunities for cooperation between our two countries, in light of their distinguished positions in their respective regional and international surroundings.
In this context, I agreed with Her Excellency on the importance of ushering in a qualitative leap in the course of bilateral cooperation during the coming period through the development of an action plan with specific timelines to advance trade and investment cooperation mechanisms and strengthen direct engagement between the two business communities, particularly in the fields of energy and related industries, transport, tourism, culture, telecommunications, and digital transformation. This would open up new horizons for investment, production, and trade exchange, while also strengthening the strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union.
During our talks today, I also underscored the importance of continuing efforts to enhance logistical cooperation and maritime transport, link Egyptian ports with Slovenia’s Port of Koper, and integrate supply chains in both countries, particularly in view of Egypt’s extensive infrastructure, ports, and logistical corridors, which provide swift access to various Arab and African markets.
Dear Attendees,
We also exchanged views on regional developments and the serious risks they pose to stability and the sustainability of energy and food supply chains. In this regard, I reiterate Egypt’s steadfast position calling for de-escalation at the regional level and prioritizing political solutions, thereby preventing the region from sliding into a wider cycle of conflict.
I also reaffirm Egypt’s unequivocal rejection of any threats that may undermine the security and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or any of the Gulf countries. I further emphasize Egypt’s full support for and solidarity with the Arab countries, stemming from Egypt’s firmly established position that Arab national security is indivisible and constitutes an integral whole.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Palestinian cause remains the central issue in the Middle East and one of the issues that reflects the extent of the international community’s commitment to the principles of justice and the provisions of international law. During my talks with Her Excellency, the President, I underscored the importance of all parties fully implementing President Trump’s plan for peace in Gaza and ensuring the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid. I also stressed the need to preserve the territorial integrity of the Palestinian territories and reject any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land.
Dear Attendees,
Egypt’s position is clear and unwavering. There can be no path to achieving lasting peace in the region other than through a just political settlement that leads to the establishment of a Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and based on the two-state solution. This would achieve regional security and stability and pave the way for the peoples of the region to live in peace, away from cycles of violence and conflict.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I also exchanged views with President Musar on a number of African and European issues, including developments in the Horn of Africa and the Ukrainian crisis. In this regard, I value Her Excellency’s positions based on support of political settlements that exclude no party, and respect for international law and the will of peoples as a key means of ending crises and addressing their root causes.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
In conclusion, I reiterate my warm welcome to the President of Slovenia in Egypt. I am confident that this visit will mark a pivotal milestone in the development of our bilateral relations, bringing further prosperity to our two peoples. I look forward to the items we agreed on today serving as the starting point for a lasting partnership between our countries.
I would like to seize this opportunity to address the need for de-escalation and to call upon all parties involved in the current crisis between Iran and the United States to create space for understanding and dialogue. The goal is to reach a political consensus that addresses the core demands and concerns of all sides.
I emphasize this approach today before it is too late. The alternative would entail catastrophic consequences for the region and for a world that has already endured a succession of crises over the past six years. Egypt urges both the United States and Iran to demonstrate the greatest possible flexibility at this juncture to find common ground to resolve the ongoing conflict.
I express my full confidence in President Trump as a man of peace who has successfully defused several difficult crises. I am certain that he will spare no effort and will provide all possible support and assistance to mediators to reach the best available settlement, thereby sparing the region further suffering and offering its peoples the hope for a better life.
For our part, we will continue to exert our utmost efforts, in cooperation with regional and international partners, to de-escalate tensions and reach a peaceful resolution to the crisis. This is essential to avoid the grave humanitarian and economic repercussions that a resumption of military operations would inflict upon the peoples of the region and the world.
