French President Emmanuel Macron shared a video from his recent visit to Alexandria alongside Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, praising the city for its hospitality and lively atmosphere.
Posting on Facebook, Macron wrote: “Thank you, Alexandria, for the warm welcome and the fascinating conversations in French.”
The video showed Sisi and Macron interacting with residents and young people during the visit, with the two leaders stopping to take selfies amid a festive atmosphere in the coastal city.
Warm Public Reception During Alexandria Tour
The visit highlighted the increasingly close ties between Egypt and France as crowds gathered to welcome the two presidents during their tour through parts of Alexandria.
The footage captured relaxed moments between the leaders and local residents, with many young Egyptians enthusiastically greeting the delegation and taking photos with the visiting French president.

Visit Linked to Senghor University Inauguration
Earlier in the day, President Sisi accompanied Macron and other international officials on a tour of Alexandria during events surrounding the inauguration of the new headquarters of Senghor University.
The visit was attended by several heads of delegations participating in the ceremony, as well as Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary-General of the International Organization of La Francophonie.
The Alexandria visit formed part of broader diplomatic and cultural engagements between Cairo and Paris, with both sides emphasizing cooperation in education, culture, and Francophone initiatives.
