Egypt’s orange exports reach record revenues

Egypt Daily News – Egyptian oranges have reached around 160 markets worldwide. Egyptian citrus export revenues in the previous season 2023-2024 amounted to $1.163 billion, a growth of 22.5% compared to the revenues of the previous season, through the shipment of 2.45 million tons, a growth of 36%, according to data from the General Authority for Export and Import Control.

Exports were distributed around 2.2 million tons of oranges and about 150,000 tons of lemons, in addition to various quantities of other products such as tangerines and grapefruit.

Egypt ranked first for the second year in a row on the list of the most prominent exporters of oranges to Europe before South Africa, as exports for the first 5 months of last year exceeded the average exports in the period between 2019 and 2023 by more than 59%.

Egyptian oranges continued to lead in European markets, as their total exports in the first 5 months of this year reached about 382.5 thousand tons, an increase of 5.2% over the total exports of the same period last year.
