Egypt Daily News – On Tuesday evening, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from his American counterpart, President Joe Biden.

The official spokesman for the presidency, Mohamed El-Shenawy, explained that the call dealt with the intensive mediation efforts of Egypt, the United States, and Qatar to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of prisoners and detainees.

The two presidents reviewed the latest developments in the relevant negotiations, and stressed the importance of the commitment of the parties concerned to overcome obstacles and showing the flexibility necessary to reach agreement.

The spokesman added that President Sisi stressed the need to reach an immediate ceasefire agreement to put an end to the serious human suffering that citizens are suffering from in the Gaza Strip, and to bring humanitarian aid to them without restrictions or obstacles, and to spare the region the consequences of expanding the scope of the conflict, and the consequences that may result from that would have serious repercussions.

The official spokesman also indicated that the two presidents stressed during the call the importance of continuing to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and the United States in all fields in light of the strategic relations linking the two countries.
