Egypt rejects presenting the proposed Gaza reconstruction plan to foreign countries before it first be approved, agreed upon, and endorsed by Arab nations

Egypt Daily News – Informed sources revealed that Egypt will present the Gaza reconstruction plan to all Arab leaders participating in the Arab Summit, scheduled to be held tomorrow, Tuesday, in Cairo.

The sources told said that Egypt refused to present or discuss the plan or its provisions with any foreign party, despite attempts by some to learn about its key points. They emphasized that the plan must first be approved, agreed upon, and endorsed by Arab nations.

Preparations to Welcome Egypt’s Guests

The sources also stated that the summit will commence at around 3:00 PM Cairo time at the Al Masa Hotel in the New Administrative Capital, with official delegations of Arab leaders arriving beforehand. All logistical preparations have been completed to receive Egypt’s guests, including presidents, kings, and Arab delegations. Additionally, a Ramadan iftar banquet will be hosted by the Egyptian president for all attending Arab leaders.

They stated that the Gaza reconstruction plan has been finalized without the displacement of Palestinians. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi will present the plan to Arab leaders, kings, and presidents for discussion and to secure unanimous Arab approval. The summit is expected to produce a unified Arab stance and an Egypt-Arab plan for reconstruction, with its provisions to be announced either during the session or in the summit’s final statement.

On Monday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty met with Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Mustafa as part of preparations for the extraordinary Arab summit scheduled for tomorrow to discuss developments in the Palestinian cause.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Tamim Khalaf stated that the meeting focused on the ongoing arrangements for the summit, particularly regarding the reconstruction of Gaza while ensuring Palestinians remain on their land. It also addressed efforts to solidify the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and reaffirmed the Arab position on the Palestinian cause.

Minister Badr Abdel Aty exchanged views with the Palestinian Prime Minister on the current situation in both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. They also discussed the vision for the upcoming Gaza reconstruction conference, which Egypt is set to host in cooperation with the United Nations.

Both officials expressed their hope for strong international support for early recovery and reconstruction plans and projects, ensuring that the Palestinian people can secure their rights, remain on their land, and establish an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
