Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister H.H. Mohammed bin Salman has sent a message of appreciation to President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi following his working visit to Cairo, describing the discussions as evidence of the strong and enduring relationship between Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
In the message, the crown prince thanked President El-Sisi for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him and his accompanying delegation. He said the visit had reaffirmed the depth of the ties linking the two countries and demonstrated their shared desire to expand cooperation across a wide range of fields.
The visit included an official reception, a private meeting between President El-Sisi and H.H. Mohammed bin Salman, expanded talks involving delegations from both countries and a luncheon hosted by the Egyptian president in honor of the Saudi visitor.
President El-Sisi welcomed the crown prince’s arrival and praised the longstanding relationship between Cairo and Riyadh. He also conveyed his greetings to H.M. Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and extended congratulations to the king, the crown prince and the Saudi people ahead of the kingdom’s National Day on 23 September.
H.H. Mohammed bin Salman expressed his appreciation for the congratulations and the reception arranged by the Egyptian president. He also conveyed H.M. King Salman’s greetings to President El-Sisi and said he was pleased to visit Egypt and meet with the president.
In his message after departing Cairo, the crown prince said the talks had confirmed the strength of the relationship between the two countries. He emphasized that both sides were determined to maintain consultation and coordination on issues of common interest under the leadership of H. M. King Salman and President El-Sisi.
The discussions took place against the backdrop of heightened regional tensions and growing concern over threats to national sovereignty, energy infrastructure and maritime transportation. Egypt and Saudi Arabia agreed that their relationship should remain among the strongest partnerships in the Arab world.
President El-Sisi stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security and the security of the Gulf states were closely linked to Egypt’s national security. Cairo strongly rejected any attacks or threats directed against Saudi territory, sovereignty or stability, as well as any actions that could endanger international shipping routes.
The two leaders agreed that current circumstances required increased solidarity and closer coordination between Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. Their discussions also reflected a shared assessment that the interests of the two nations were closely connected and that cooperation was necessary to address the region’s political and security challenges.
Economic relations were another major topic. The leaders agreed on the need to develop practical measures for increasing trade and investment and removing obstacles that could limit the expansion of bilateral business ties.
Egypt and Saudi Arabia maintain extensive economic links, with cooperation involving investment, energy, infrastructure, tourism and trade. During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of ensuring that economic relations reflect the scale of their historic and strategic partnership.
The talks also addressed the security of maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea. Both countries have a direct interest in keeping these waterways open because disruptions can affect energy exports, commercial shipping and international supply chains.
President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Saudi measures aimed at protecting the kingdom’s security. The two sides also backed efforts to reach a comprehensive and lasting political settlement to the conflict in Yemen.
On the Palestinian issue, Egypt and Saudi Arabia expressed matching positions in support of a fair and comprehensive solution based on the two-state framework and international legitimacy. They called for the implementation of the second phase of the United States’ peace plan and the relevant United Nations Security Council resolution.
The leaders also stressed the need to increase humanitarian assistance to Gaza and end violations affecting civilians in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Their discussions reflected the two governments’ continued support for Palestinian rights and opposition to actions that threaten regional stability.
Sudan was also included in the talks. Egypt and Saudi Arabia reaffirmed their support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty and stability, while emphasizing the importance of preserving the country’s national institutions. They rejected any attempt to place the Sudanese Armed Forces on an equal footing with unauthorized militias or parallel armed structures.
Both governments consider any threat to Sudan’s territorial integrity a potential danger to the security of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the wider region.
H.H. Mohammed bin Salman’s message concluded with wishes for President El-Sisi’s continued health and for progress and prosperity for the Egyptian people. It also underlined the intention of both governments to maintain direct communication and regular coordination in the coming period.
The visit therefore combined symbolic gestures of Arab solidarity with discussions on security, investment, diplomacy and regional crises. For Cairo and Riyadh, the talks reaffirmed that their partnership remains central to efforts to protect Arab interests and respond collectively to the region’s rapidly changing challenges.
