An American tourist living in Egypt, Gisselle Vallejos, was harassed by a tuk-tuk driver in one of Cairo’s streets has expressed her deep gratitude to Egypt’s Ministry of Interior for their swift action in apprehending the perpetrator within hours.
In a heartfelt post shared on her personal Facebook page, the tourist recounted her shock and surprise at the police’s prompt response, which came less than five hours after the video of the incident was posted on YouTube. She praised the Egyptian authorities for their efficiency, stating that the police contacted her immediately and informed her that the driver was placed under arrest.
The tourist went on to explain that the next morning, she visited the local police station to provide her testimony. During this visit, her safety was assured, and the necessary legal procedures against the accused were promptly initiated.
“I am extremely grateful to everyone who watched the video and helped by alerting the authorities. The police are taking all the necessary steps to ensure such incidents do not happen again,” she wrote, reinforcing her confidence in the Egyptian security forces.

In her message, the tourist emphasized that Egypt is generally a safe country. She acknowledged the presence of kind-hearted people and peaceful neighborhoods. Although the incident occurred in a cemetery, an area not commonly frequented by tourists, she was particularly impressed by the quick assistance she received from local residents, who responded immediately when she asked for help.
She concluded her post by thanking everyone who supported her and reported the incident, expressing her intention to share more videos from her future visits to Egypt. The tourist ended with heartfelt words of love and gratitude for the country and its people.
