Egypt Daily News – The representative of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Hossam Zaki, confirmed that the member states are interested in achieving stability in Syria and its future, indicating that he presented this vision to the new Syrian administration.

Zaki, who is visiting Damascus today at the head of a high-level delegation during which he met with the leader of the Syrian administration, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, said: “We held a comprehensive and frank dialogue with Ahmed Al-Sharaa about the future of Syria.”

He added: “Member states are interested in achieving stability in Syria and its future, and we presented the new administration with our vision regarding that.”

Zaki added: “Syria’s membership in the Arab League has been valid after its freeze was lifted since 2023.” He pointed out that the sanctions imposed on Syria “are no longer justified now.”

Syrian Foreign Minister Al-Shaibani said during a press conference with Hossam Zaki: “We look forward to strengthening joint work with members of the Arab League in various fields. We also look forward to Syria’s return to its seat in the League and its attendance at all events to represent the voice of the free Syrian people. We value the Arab countries’ firm commitment to the unity of Syrian lands,” according to Al-Shaibani.

The Syrian minister added: “The new Syrian administration seeks by all means to provide a suitable environment for the return of all Syrians, and to provide everything they need in order to live a decent life in their country, Syria. We call on our Arab brothers and members of the Arab League to contribute to reconstruction, especially in the field of energy and infrastructure, and are ready to provide all facilities are available to Arab investments in a way that contributes to building the economy and improving the standard of living for the Syrian people,” according to the Syrian agency.
