Egypt Daily News – There is currently an unprecedented military escalation between Iran and Israel after Israeli media reported fires breaking out in the city of Haifa following missile attacks launched from Iranian territory.
The Israeli military radio confirmed initial reports of missiles striking the Haifa and Kiryat areas. Meanwhile, an Israeli army spokesperson stated that the Israeli Air Force is carrying out attacks on military targets within Iran’s capital, Tehran.
The Israeli Home Front Command issued urgent instructions for residents near the northern and central regions to stay close to shelters and follow emergency protocols amid heightened alert.
On the other side, Iranian state television announced that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Air Force launched a combined missile and drone attack on Israel, describing it as retaliation for what it called “Israeli aggression against sensitive Iranian facilities.”
In a notable development, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister stated that the country would take “new measures at its nuclear facilities” without notifying the International Atomic Energy Agency, accusing Israel of undermining diplomatic efforts and blaming the United States as a partner in the aggression.
The Iranian military action follows Israeli reports of missile launches from Iran toward Israel, with the Israeli defense systems actively intercepting threats and sirens sounding across the country. Channel 12 reported the incoming Iranian missile salvo was targeting Haifa and Kiryat in northern Israel.
The Israeli Home Front Command confirmed sirens blaring nationwide as a result of the Iranian missile threat. Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported initial confirmation of Iranian rockets landing in Haifa and Tira.
The Israeli army urged civilians to stay close to protected areas and avoid gatherings. The army spokesperson reiterated that rocket launches from Iran are ongoing, while the Israeli Air Force simultaneously attacks military sites in Tehran. Citizens were instructed to minimize movement and remain in protected areas until further notice.
Videos circulating on social media show Iranian missiles headed towards Israeli targets and the attempts by Israeli air defenses to intercept them, with fires reported in Haifa and other locations.
The military intelligence had reportedly detected Iranian preparations for the missile strikes in advance.
