Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated in a session titled ‘Ensuring a Safe, Fast, and Effective Deployment of Artificial Intelligence’. The session was held as part of the G7 Summit proceedings in Évian, France.

Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said participating leaders and corporate executives emphasized in their interventions that Artificial Intelligence, AI, has become inherently integrated into various facets of life. They acknowledged that its deployment presents both opportunities and risks, necessitating the formulation of a definitive roadmap alongside a legal and legislative framework for digital transformation and AI within each country.

They also stressed the vital need to bolster global coordination and cooperation in this field, affirming the necessity of taking decisive steps toward AI governance and capacity building to keep pace with the sector’s rapid evolution.

During the session, the participants stressed the critical importance of not overlooking the security, social, ethical, and informational risks posed by AI. They noted that these risks are particularly heightened by the current lack of international governance for these technologies, which could potentially infringe upon state sovereignty, limit the benefits of the digital revolution, and widen existing disparities, not only among different social classes but also between developed and developing countries.

In this regard, they reiterated the imperative need for concerted international efforts and deeper joint cooperation, including robust public-private partnerships, to address and mitigate AI-related risks while leveraging the technology’s full potential.

President El-Sisi reiterated the crucial importance of strengthening AI governance, noting that while the technology’s development is a natural and ongoing process, humanity is still in the nascent stages of this field. The President reaffirmed the urgent necessity to address and avert the risks associated with AI.
